On December 31, 2024, the East Africa Association for Research and Development (DAD) organized a thought-provoking program combining academic discussions and key announcements. The event included the dissemination of proceedings from the 2nd East Africa Development Forum held in 2023 and the official announcement of the 3rd Annual East Africa Development Forum, scheduled for July 23–24, 2025, under the theme: “State-building in Somalia: Civic Engagement and Public Services.”
Eng. Dr. Abdulkadir Jaylani Mohamud delivered the keynote address on: “Preserving Research Originality in the Era of AI: Strategies and Best Practices for Higher Education.” His presentation explored the challenges and opportunities AI poses to academic research, sparking a lively panel discussion. Experts examined AI’s impact and proposed strategies to protect research integrity.
Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Ali Sheikh Ahmed, General Director of the Association, delivered a significant speech emphasizing the importance and relevance of the scholarly debate. He also expressed appreciation to the keynote speaker, panelists, and participants, while officially announcing DAD’s 3rd East Africa Development Forum, building anticipation for the event.
The program concluded with remarks from H.E. Mohamed Abdulkadir, Somalia’s State Minister of Ports and Marine Transport, who praised DAD’s efforts in fostering intellectual engagement and enhancing research standards in the region.
